The birth of xeuse.com

I for one love hearing about the development processes of websites. Call me sad, but I find it interesting, educational and inspiring. I'm sure I'm not the only one, so I felt it would make a change to have a page talking about the design, the creation, the high's and lows, and the general development of xeuse.com

Was this your original design, or a result of trial and error?

I would love to say I had the magical ability to think up designs. It would certainly have saved me a lot of time! Not to mention the blister which had developed due to the solid 15 hour's I spent creating a suitable design, which I was happy with.

I do not care to show you my original designs, as they really were that bad.

How long did it take you to complete xeuse.com?

Well, whilst I don't know the exact amount of hours, I can assure you that it was a lot! I sometimes only managed to do a little a day, and at times, was unable to give it my full attention. But sometimes I was glued to it. When I first came up with the design, I was up the whole night working on it. A total of 15 solid hours, and 1 blister on my finger later, I had a design which I was satisfied with.

What do you for see for xeuse.com?

Well, once the site is set up and running hassle free, I intend on creating a vast tutorial database to help others out there learn the various techniques and methods used in the creation, and maintenance of a website. I'd like to cover more aspects to web design than the design phase, such as the inspiration which can go into a website, motivational material, content layout and the creativity aspects.

Whats your choice of music when creating?

I listen to all sorts really. Though I normally find I work much better when listening to something slow, with fewer lyrics. I normally find the lyrics break my concentration.

Such song's I listened to repeated are some Sigur Ros music such as - Njosnavelin, Untitled, Svefn G Englar and Flugufrelsarinn. I'm English, and have no idea what they're singing about, but I love they're music. I also love listening to some of VAST's music, not to mention alot of Hanz Zimmer's stuff, Philip Glass's music, and one hell of a a lot of Edgen.com's music.

The monitors, how did you do the monitor's?

The basic shape of the monitors were made in 3d max, and being quite a novice to 3d studio max, I continued the rest of the work on them in photoshop. The computer screen, the shadows, reflections and cables were all done in photoshop.

Can I download the original .fla files of these flash buttons?

I plan on putting them into the tools section first, so people can take them apart and understand how they work.

And what does xeuse actually mean?

The pronunciation of it is Zeus, and as I'm sure your all aware, Zeus is a famous Greek god. I spent ages looking at different Greek words. Mainly because Greek words are cool, they're attractive words.

Certianally! First of all i'd like to give credit to HalfADot.com for they're comments script which I used and edited to suit my needs. As well as thanks to those that assited me in the discovery and elimination of such problems as script bugs, and incompatibility issues.
